Proudly ENDORSED by the Champaign County Young Democrats and the AFL-CIO of Champaign County!
Tanisha King-Taylor has always wanted to help others. Even as a child she was a helper and nurturer and took care of those around her. In college Tanisha realized she was meant to be helping others beyond the home. At the university, she took a sociology course that spoke to her and led her to earn a master’s degree in social work.
While serving in the field, Tanisha worked with adults with different abilities, children in residential treatment, perpetrators and survivors of domestic violence, and families and children in juvenile detention centers. She also worked with minority students at a predominately white institution, where she helped students achieve their goals on a personal and professional level. She also has served students at the University of Illinois in several capacities.
Consistent in all of these roles are addressing the stories of the vulnerable and underrepresented and those who felt they had no voice. In serving their needs, Tanisha became their go-to person.
She continues to serve people, currently as Director of the Tenant Union at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and as the founder of her own business as a motivational coach, speaker, and workshop facilitator.
Tanisha is a skilled motivator and problem solver, effective communicator, and caring professional who wants to be the next District 10 representative to the Champaign County Board.
